Deep, bright, bold red-purple colour; a powerful bouquet of spicy, chocolaty fruit and smoky coconutty oak, with a stony/metallic lift which may suggest a touch of volatile acidity but doesn't mar it at all. The wine is very rich and full, concentrated and plush-textured, with lovely fleshy mouth-feel allied with density and persistence. It really smacks of old-vine character: concentration and gravitas. 2023–2039
