Insurance Block Shiraz 2017
The oldest vineyards in the world prosper in South Australia – an ‘ark’ of viticultural history in one of the last remaining phylloxera free regions. Phylloxera would be a disaster for South Australia’s old vines. Which is why in 2007 we established a small vineyard of 1880 cuttings grafted onto phylloxera resistant root stock, to protect and insure our unique 1880 clone. The 10th anniversary of the Insurance Block marks the first bottling of this single vineyard.
Fragrant red and blue fruits, juicy freshness, supple mouthfeel underpinned by creamy oak and fine tannins, lovely length and an attractive finish.
“It’s fresh and medium-weight. Dark Asian spice – soy! On the palate it’s more red-fruited; cored, cloves – serious. Way too soon. Obvious pedigree.” The Real Review.
