The Barossa is arguably Australia’s most famous wine region. However, it is not commonly understood that this globally acclaimed province actually comprises of two distinct ‘valleys’ – Barossa Valley and Eden Valley. (view the Barossa Topographical Map)

The Barossa region offers diverse wine styles from the robust and powerful wines of the Barossa Valley floor, to the elegant and delicate wines of the cooler high country – Eden Valley.

For those in the know, Eden Valley is fondly referred to as Barossa’s Beautiful High Country.

Eden Valley is of similar size to the Barossa Valley, but is vastly different in topography, soils, vineyard area and the number of cellar doors. The Barossa Valley has around 80 cellar doors and offers a plethora of tasting options, many within close proximity of one another.

By comparison, Eden Valley has 9 cellar doors, spread from the south to the north of the region and  made up of 3 larger producers, 5 boutique producers and a collective regional wine room in Angaston – Taste Eden Valley, which is home to many of the boutique, single vineyard wine producers without a cellar door.

Another 8 producers open their doors for tastings by appointment.

Due to the spread of Eden Valley’s cellar doors, if you are planning a visit to our beautiful region, a little planning is recommended. So, please don’t miss out on this opportunity – a drive through the Eden Valley region is a unique and endearing experience, and a beautiful scenic journey. And may we suggest, the scenery, history and wines are delightful.

Below is a geographical summary of all cellar doors with links to websites, links to maps and food options. Distanced are referenced from the township of Angaston, Eden Valley and Springton.
